iOS 13.5 Battery Life / Battery Performance Test.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION ON THE XR SCORE, SEE PINNED COMMENT.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the iOS 13.5 battery performance video. This video was shot 6 days after iOS 13.5 was installed, so it had time o settle in, so to speak. I have seen many comments that it takes about a week for battery performance to optimize it self after an iOS update. I have always been skeptical on this statement as I have never personally had bad battery life right after I update. If I restore and download backup from iCloud well then that is another story. So I decided to run the battery test 6 days after I updated them. In those 6 days they were just idling with power connected. So let us run the battery test again, and see if we will get some different results this time around. In this video I will run it on iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone SE 2020.

Before the test was run the devices were set to 25% display brightness, auto brightness has been disabled, all devices use same settings, and are connected to the same access point.

How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device’s battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device’s battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.

  1. Important correction. See below :

Thanks for stopping by to watch this video. It will go live 9AM eastern time. This time it will also include the iPhone SE 2020. So getting hard to fit all devices into the frame. Need to start looking for a better camera.
To help support the channel, please watch the video without using add blocker software, as adsense is my only source of revenue. And also it helps if you subscribe, share and linking the video. And of course also watching and clicking the adds, :-D.
Videos in the making … iOS 12.4.7 videos, and also another special one I have not made before, but I keep pushing that to as iOS versions are released. Hopefully I will be able to get that done, as I do not suspect many releases between now and iOS 14 Beta 1.

    IMPORTANT CORRECTION.

So it seems that I made a mistake in my notes that made it all the way to the conclusion and to the final score chart.

The XR did not, unfortunatly score 3983 points as I mistakenly wrote. Only 3583. However that is still more than iOS 13.4.1.

I have update the the chart, and the correct one can be see here :

    Sorry for that mistake.
    Great case for iPhone SE

Great Qi charger (the one I use)

  2. huh guess im downgrading, iphone 7 has noticeably worse battery life and stability like crashing on many apps and stuff

  3. I have 5 iphone SE with different versions of iOS starting from the lowest version of IOS 12.4, 13.1.3, 13.3, 13.4 and the highest is 13.5. I tried to compare all versions even from 12.4 the result is version 13.4 better battery and performance. I did not find a bug in version 13.4. I think this is the latest version for the iPhone SE. IOS 14? I'm not sure it will be better for the iPhone SE.

  4. i'm sorry… but i think you made a mistake, at 9:30 the Iphone XR result is 3583 and after in the chart is 3983. So is not 500points jump but only 117 points. thank you for this video! good job.

  5. Im seriously sick of this $hit. I check the comments for every update and all of them say it sucks. Wtf man

  6. Anyone else with an 11 experience battery drain after this update?!! Phone was fine before now halfway through the day it’s at almost 50%!

  7. Iphone Xs after upgrade on 13.5 battery life is terrible, even 40% worst than before. Need to charge a phone 2 times a day.

  8. After this update My IPhone X and IPhone 8 both taking more time to Charge, also even after 2.5 hrs battery percentage is 80-83% and doesn’t progress even if you keep for 4-5 hrs

  9. How new is the phones from the previous generations used in this comparison? E.g., iPhone 6s was released in Sep 2015. If you bought it that time and have been using it since then, we may not rely on its figures.

  10. Hi there!
Can you confirm that the bug which messes up the network icons (airplane mode icon is displayed in apps only, while the device is not in airplane mode anymore) in the status bar after a few days if one switches between airplane and cellular mode is now fixed? It's this: @t
Thanks in advance if you look into it. It happens on a 6s.
Apple doesn't seem to aknowledge this.
