Running at full speed at the end of a 40-yard pass, the ball coming across you. Controlling the ball with the left thigh (not the right which 98% players would do) then, (this is the crazy part) in the same motion, while running full speed, deftly touching the ball to put it in your stride without it touching the ground, WITHOUT IT TOUCHING THE GROUND, while still running full speed and then finishing in the top corner with your weaker foot. If you don't think this is the best goal of the world cup then you have a problem. One word – Messi. Absolutely phenomenal..

This should’ve been goal of the tournament because:
Of all the goals put forward, all were really nice, but the thing is that the others were partly luck. A 40 yard screamer from a CB is beautiful but it’s something you can find at any level- League 2, the championship, even non-league etc. It’s very much down to luck. This goal will only ever be found at the top level because only the top players can ever pull something like it off. Messi is at full sprint and under pressure from a defender and he plucks the ball out of the air and takes it into his stride without even letting it touch the ground. You will never find a goal like that anywhere other that at the top league, done by a top player. That is why it should’ve been goal of the tournament.
