Gan Kim Yong:" there are comments we have dropped the number of covid-19 testing …" ………I am utterly amused … if one were to google ' singapore dropped number covid-19 testing', there wouldn't be any results on this, rather the return results would be …"no, there is no drop in testing …" ….etc.

I do not know where Gan pick up such comments from … maybe there is a few such comments but certainly not in the majority (and i couldn't even find them in Google) but i am amazed Gan would start his briefing with such topic. Secondly i have not heard of any POFMA acts on any articles/write-ups/comments on such topic. Hey, why didn't Gan trigger the POFMA act then?

There are tens of other comments (such as those raised in the Q n A) that question the MOM and MOH on the handling of the covid-19 cases that deserve to be addressed in the opening sentence.

And Gan picked a topic that only a few extremists would bother about?

I severely question the intelligence of Gan.

‘… a total of 21,000 migrant worker living in dormitories have been tested since the start of the outbreak’
‘Since the start of the outbreak, we have tested 21,000 migrant workers who lives in dormitories’
    1) Old information comes first – ‘Since the start of the outbreak’
    2) New information next – ‘have tested’
    3) Use active instead of passive – ‘we have’, not ‘have been’
    4) The information ‘living in dormitories’ is less important than ‘tested’, don't waste our energy listening to it.
    5) Always say it clearly ‘who’ is doing the ‘action’; The actor is ‘we’ and the action is ‘test’.
Would the Ministers please get some copy editor to polish their English? Spare us the pain listening.

English is a very fluid and flexible tool. Add in Statistics, and a permutation of possibilities present before you.
We can say a glass is half full or its half empty. While technically what he say may be true , I suspect the allegations may also have its truth. It's a matter of perspective.
If I do not say this, do I expect any Singaporean to say this?

with regard to their health and environment condition, migrant workers are "human beings" too. for the purpose to enhance our national growth on GDP during the COVID-19 period, till the virus outbreak..so this is the cause of your responsible action for now and then?

    As per Moh update:-
    14 Apr. 94796 tests. 59737 person
    20Apr 121774 tests. 82644 person
No. people tested per day = (82644-59737)/6= 3817

    No. tests per day = (121774-94796)/6= 4,496

True that over 3000 people tested per day but most of it done during this period are for the essential workers.

Hope all essential workers especially those working in elderly care homes are tested early to prevent any outbreak in the vulnerable group.

Clearly, the public has lost trust in the PAP. Explaining would only make the situation worse. GKY should just accept responsibility for his failure in containing the virus and step down.

"Not true", typical of Gan's signature defiant and arrogance to be defensive. Cease your blameless attitude show us facts and figures to justify responsible farsighted bold measures were meted and was effectively executed. Cos the rising nos of infected cases speaks otherwise of competence by the govt to manage this crisis compared to other countries.

What is the process for testing and addition to daily case count? Are new cases found automatically added to daily case count or is there another "processing phase", where there is a possibility to delay addition to daily case count.

I thought our government was once complacent and this led to exponential increase in the numbers. But let's give credit where credit is due. Isn't our testing rate now among the best compared to S Korea, Hong Kong, US and Britain?
